Hello everybody! So before I start this article, I’d like to give you all a little brief about myself. I am Ayush Agrawal, 6ft tall and around seven years ago (when I was still in college) I used to weigh around 78 Kgs, which was the perfect weight for my height. I used to be one of the most good-looking guys of my college and life was simply fun. Though right after I graduated, the entrepreneurship bug bit me. And as all of you must know – being an entrepreneur is a very demanding role. It meant long working hours, a total cut off from the social life, constantly sitting around a computer trying to device strategies to take my firm to the next level.
(Though one thing I was totally oblivious of – entrepreneurship) not only didn’t allow me to partake in various physical activities, but the constant challenges that life in-general was throwing at me was also taking a mental toll. I was often dealing with failures, one after the other, and gradually my weight scale even crossed the dreaded 100 kg mark, till a few months ago I weighed around 105 Kgs. But one fine day I just sat up straight and decided this just had to stop. In past few months I have managed to reduce around 10 Kgs and am fully committed towards achieving my lost-self back. Though, I am now running a successful fashion brand – We The Chic – which is one of India’s largest licensed merchandise manufacturing and retailing companies. I am still struggling with my body weight. Anyway, here’s what I am doing on a daily basis:
I generally wake up at around 6’o clock in morning, and the first thing I do is drink around a litre of warm water mixed with one or two lemons. After performing the morning duties, I go for a long jog/walk and cover an approx. distance of 3 Kms. This leaves me with increased appetite, I then drink a glass or two of fresh homemade juice of beetroots, carrots, tomatoes, ginger, and lemon with a dash of black pepper. This juice is known to be an elixir (do look it up).
By around 9 to 9:30 AM I am super hungry, and want my breakfast. Here I would like to talk about a very bad habit of mine, which should be absolutely avoided by the people who are trying to reduce weight. I used to eat pretty much nothing the entire day, and just use to gorge upon dinner after coming back from office (in my case this probably was one of the biggest reasons for weight gain in first place). Anyway now for breakfast, I take two omelettes of 4 eggs (just the white part) along with some salads/fruits with multi grain or whole wheat bread toast. After which I leave for office.
For lunch I consume a bowl or two of boiled whole wheat prepared in pasta style in olive oil, with lots of vegetables in it. This keeps one full for a stretched period because whole grains take longer to digest and is also mighty low on calories and to top it all – it’s delicious too. Also, throughout the day at intervals of around 2 hours I keep eating a fruit or some salad. This helps in increasing metabolism and also keeps me full. I then leave office at around 5:30 to 6’o clock.
Diet is extremely important when it comes to weight reduction, however equally important is physical activity, and I am unfortunately not the gym type, I find gyms really very boring. However, I love swimming and badminton, and go straight for either swimming or badminton after office (I live in Hyderabad, the city which has given Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu, and Gopichand to India. And I fortunately go to Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy only, if you are in Hyderabad, make sure to check it out). After sweating it out for about an hour, I get back home, take a relaxing bath and unwind with a good book.
As you can see, I am not really doing anything extraordinary, I am just keeping my calorie intake in check and doing a little bit of physical activity and that itself apparently is sufficient. Hopefully this was of help. Signing out!
